Idling, Kansas style

Not much notice was given for this workshop – it’s planned for tomorrow – but truckers in the Kansas City area are invited to learn more about the region’s idling restrictions. Plus, truckers can learn about funding opportunities for Kansas truck owners to help purchase diesel emission reduction products.

Idling is limited to five minutes in the Missouri counties of Clay, Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Platte, St. Charles and St. Louis. If that affects you, this workshop should be a good investment of your time. One thing that’s helpful – it is free, though organizers ask participants to register online at or by calling 800-578-8898.

Hosted by the Kansas Small Business Environmental Assistance Program, the workshop will be held from 9 a.m. until noon on Thursday, June 24 at 6000 Lamar in Mission, KS 66202.

  1. Isn't that just great! I run local intermodal and there are times I have to sit and wait on something. But now with the summer comming on and the heat building, we are going to get in trouble for running our trucks to stay cool. We don't have the smog issues that California does, so why the dumb law?
